We finished our volcano. Hopefully we’ll finish up our study and get to the real erupting volcano by the end of the week. I think a field trip to the Big Island is in order. Can you believe I lived on Hawaii for most of three years and never saw the volcano?
Acid or Base?
The ‘indicator’
Red cabbage juice was our indicator…and I now actually know what that means! I love first grade chemistry.
We’re using Real Science 4 Kids. I am really happy with it. After Christmas we are going to do the physics one. Let’s just say I know less about physics than I know about chemistry…
Today Ryan got to taste the experiment. This was sweet, some were SOUR!
Can you tell which ones are sour?
I was supposed to end up with 1 1/2 cups of cabbage juice left over for next week. I ended up with 1 teaspoon! So I get to make it all over again next week. Man am I going to be smart by the end of first grade!
