It was Erik’s first game. It was perfect since his nickname is ‘Willie’. He did great. He loved the train ride and did great at the park. We got there early to get our statues and try to get a ball signed. Ryan was next in line and Whiteside had to go in. How could you leave a six year old standing there with a blank ball?!! Ryan was a great sport and never mentioned it again. I’m still bummed of course! (I’m mature like that.) Erik slept from the 3rd inning until we got on the train. We didn’t get home until 12:30am. I think Erik will skip anymore night games until he gets a little older, but it was fun to go as a family.
We celebrated Willie Mays’ birthday with 40,000 of his closest friends. It was fun to go on a day celebrating one of baseball’s greatest players. I don’t think Ryan will forget it. He got a Willie Mays statue too.
