Growing

Yes, I do have other children, but I’m still stuck on cute puppy photos…

She’s 12 1/2 pounds now.  I can’t believe how fast she is growing.  Only a little over a month until she can go anywhere.  She’s ready for puppy class now.  That should be interesting.

Homeschooling…with a puppy

The trainer came yesterday.  We couldn’t have written the check for an additional four sessions any quicker.  The trainer was great and had so many helpful things for us to do with Josey.  So I have been a little worried that our 25-40lb. dog might be on the larger side…the trainer thought Josey was pretty big.  She said her 70lb. dog was her size at 9 weeks.  Oh how I hope she’s an early grower!  Apparently, she is not my only strong-willed child.  The trainer said she has had tougher ones (code for “this one is a doozy”) but that Josey was up there.  I think I have my hands full, very full!

Good thing she’s so cute!

(Every time I see that rabbit I jump thinking it’s a real dead squirrel.)

Growing

Image00002

Josey has been home for two weeks now.  I think we have pretty much used up all of our puppy knowledge…and I’m not sure how good that was to begin with.  Fortunately, she is a good little puppy.  Sleeping is great, she can come and sit most, some of the time.  Today she learned to paw…I think she’s a lefty!  But every day I think she has the potty thing down… she doesn’t.  She is biting some.  She has short spurts of it.  It’s not terrible, but I can tell she is getting busier and more into things and the nipping will get worse.  Time to get a little help.

She is so much bigger than when we got her.  I think she may end up with the longest legs in the family.  She feels so much heavier than when we got her.  I hope the breeder was right when she guessed 40 lbs.  Everyone says she has big paws.

She’s a goldendoodle.  Her mom is a beautiful cream golden retriever and her dad is a miniature poodle.  After two weeks the only hair I have found is a very small amount in her brush.  No one in our family has had any allergy issues with her.  So if her parents can figure out how to properly train her, she is going to be a wonderful family pet!

It’s a girl!

Our little Josey is home!  We brought her home on the 12th.  She has already gained a pound and a half.  She is very sweet and calm (most of the time.)  I can tell she is getting a little feistier though.  She has slept through the night since the beginning.  We think she is just great!

We’re Expecting!

Well, we’re not getting any younger so we decided we better get to it or it wasn’t going to happen!  The kids are thrilled.  I go between excitement and total panic.  It will be tough to be up again during the night!  Good thing they are so cute when they are little.

T.K.

Megan started transitional kindergarten on Wednesday.  So far, so great!  She has an experienced teacher and has been happy to go each day.  I’m not sure if she is going to be excited to go every day next week, but we’ll get to that on Monday.  Her teacher has been telling them they come back every day.

Unfortunately, our neighborhood school is too full to have the t.k. program so I have to drive her twice as far to get her to school.  It takes me a full half hour to drop her and to pick her up.  Next year we can walk, bike or have a quick drive.  Since this isn’t our neighborhood school I had no idea that it was the only school in our district with uniforms.  Luckily, I noticed a plaid jumper on the school’s homepage  and looked it up.

The boys don’t start until Sept. 1.  I can’t believe Ryan is in fifth grade.  It’s time to start thinking about middle school and if we will continue with the homeschooling or go to a five day a week school.

Cont.

Another unintentional hiatus…

Once I get out of the habit of doing this blog I have a tough time getting back to it.  Megan starts transitional kindergarten on Wednesday!!  I can’t believe it.  The boys will start on September 1.  I will have 2 days a week without children.  I will probably walk around not knowing what to do with the time the first day!

Our trip to Bishop was a highlight of the summer.  The kids cannot wait to go back.  Ryan was set to move there until he found out there’s no In-N-Out.
