Same Week…

Looking forward to this week ending!  I’m sick, the car was declared a total loss, and the cooler has to be replaced…on a much better note:

barring any new troubles, shelves go in tomorrow!  Harvey and Ryan are already talking about which model they are starting.  I am holding firm…no models until the closet is completely finished and full of my stuff.  Once this room is complete we will have a total of ONE finished room!  He does nice work though!!

What a Week

It has been one of those weeks…Harvey is sick again, a friend has been borrowing our 4runner and it was hit (and run) in front of his house, our credit card info. was stolen and someone made off with $1000 worth of goodies, Harvey’s cooler broke…ugh!  But I am feeling so relieved…Megan has made incredible strides in the last month.  The behavior and developmental growth has made things around here so much fun.  She is doing “awesome” at school according to her teacher.  Next week I am signing her up for transitional kindergarten.  I think it is just what she needs for the upcoming year.

On Sunday Ryan got called up.  He was thrilled of course.  His coach called to see if he could fill in for a player for the 11u tournament.  They were already down to 9 players.  The other player made it through game one, but he was too sick to play anymore.  If they didn’t get another player they would have had to forfeit.  We knew it was probably his best chance at finally winning in the foreseeable future.  The 11u is a really good team.  They almost always win their tournaments.  The 10u…well…their time will come.  Ryan was a pinch runner in the first game and managed to get himself into a pickle.  He made it safely back to third though.  He scored the first run and they won 2-1.  That got them into the final.  Ryan made a great bunt down the third base line.  The third baseman overthrew first and he made it to second.  It was really great because these are really big guys.  The pitcher was throwing 50mph.  Ryan has never hit off that before.  He also scored in the second game and they won 5-4.  His first championship with this team.  His coach has 6 teams up to 18u.

I told you they were huge!  And he wasn’t the biggest.

Well our weird week has put a temporary halt to the closet, but there has been progress.  I love that the empty space is gone.  Hopefully things will settle down soon and it will get shelves and paint!

The Great Outdoors

I am of course concerned about the lack of rain, but the kids played outside for about five hours today and it was DELIGHTFUL…

My socks and undies are going to be so happy!  Harvey actually made more progress than this, but I didn’t get a photo yet.  Hopefully we’ll have some shelves started tomorrow.  The door looks great.  I can’t wait!

This is the cabinet that will hold the drawers.  There will be shelves on top.  So looking forward to filling it up!

It’s January…

Image00002

and that means baseball season has started!  The boys made it to their first final!  They ended up getting second place, but it was great.  The bummer is that getting to the finals makes for a long day.  We have to rework how we are going to do those days in the future for the siblings.  The next few tournaments should be tough, so we might not have long days!

Movie Time

Button and Alfie took the kids to Paddington yesterday.  Megan’s first movie at the theatre!  She couldn’t have been happier about stopping for candy first!

Finally got the shower curtain rod in.  It’s so much prettier than the plastic one!  Had no idea it was such a big project.  It’s straight though.

Train rack is up!  I was worried it would be too big, but it turned out fine.  I hadn’t seen it for years, so I was glad I still liked it.

We made a deal…no more models (Ryan’s new passion, and Harvey’s old one) until the closet is done.  Should have thought of that years ago.  Harv is on the move.

He started the door yesterday.  He said it will be completed by my birthday (I forgot to make sure it’s THIS February!)

A Little Mystery

Ryan has discovered Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys.  He is hooked.  Image00005

The boys also discovered the library has a whole shelf of joke books…it’s not stop comedy around here!

Christmas Eve 2013

Time for new jammies!  The boys are big pajama guys.  Last year I got them each a book instead for their Christmas Eve gift, but I thought these might sway them…and they did.

Dear Santa,

We have been very okay this year. Please bring Megan: a Doc McStuffins umbrella and vehicle; Erik a Playmobil ambulance and the Missing Piece Meets the Big O; and Ryan models!

We love you!  Ryan, Erik, and Megan

Two-Wheeler

Yesterday Megan and I went to the park.  She rode her bike.  She asked the whole way if I could take off her training wheels.  We had gotten her the balance bike two years ago and weren’t planning on training wheels at all, but when a friend gave her their old bike she was thrilled.  It was too big to not use the training wheels.  Well, as of yesterday, she is tall enough to go without.  Harvey took them off this afternoon.  It took her about two minutes to ride without any help.  I really think the balance bike made all the difference.  She is hooked.  She practiced all afternoon.

Another Year

So we did have a few pretty healthy days around Christmas, but the kids are all sick again.  We had to cancel for Ryan’s baseball party and really went nowhere all vacation.   There was a lot more t.v. than I had hoped!  Each kid got a new game for Christmas and we have enjoyed all of them.  Ryan and Erik are very excited about Clue.  After we played one evening Erik was a little freaked out about the murder in the mansion so he ended up sleeping with Ryan.  He decided we had to play during the day and the person would only be injured.  Did not see that coming, but he worked it out and play has continued.

I have been working really hard on the garden.  The ground is perfect for weeding right now.  We haven’t planted a garden the last two years.  Things seem to get so busy and baseball starts taking over weekends when it is time to plant.  I figured if I had everything looking good at planting time we might just get some tomatoes in this year.

Here are some pictures from our photo shoot for  Christmas cards.  I have never been so late.  Between rain and illness I just couldn’t get them done and out.
