I Didn’t Expect That!

Image00003 Look who is just beginning to show a tiny bit of interest in mothering!  I had to put the dolls away for awhile (for their safety) last year.  There has been no flinging by the ears so far this time around…

Image00010 You know, I never really imagined that one day my kids would play restaurant and…order tofu.

Here we go again

Megan had been asking to play soccer again for months.  I told her she had  to wait because there was a little too much laying on the ground-not participating last time.  So this week we headed back onto the field.

 Image00001 Yep, out of bounds…

Image00002 She was so excited to play and listened very well to the coach.  I wish I had my camera out in time to catch her running across the field with the ball…in her hands.  She did leave the field a few times during play.  She said she needed to talk to me.  She went back happily though and it was a successful class.  I think it will be fun for her.  She wants to take ballet next time.  I mean, can you even wait for the pictures?

Image00006 Isn’t she looking older?  Only a few weeks until she turns 4.

Ryan has hand, foot, and mouth…(and ears, knees…)  It has been pretty mild, no fever, but he stayed home today and we told his coach he can’t play on Saturday.  He looked a little teary when the doctor said he shouldn’t play, but he had a great attitude.  The doctor gave us some guidelines for when he should be around other kids.  Ryan’s coach reminded us he still has two more days! : )

He’s 6

We just did a small family party on Erik’s birthday.  Image00001

Ryan thought it would be funny to give Erik money on his birthday…Image00004 Fake money is not funny to Erik.

Getting Back to School

The kids are back to school!  The boys started Thursday.  Megan and I headed an hour north to visit a friend.  Not having to go get Erik at 12 sure opens up the day to more things.  Erik loved going all day…three recesses, what’s not to like?  Megan likes her different classes so far.  She goes M/W while I work with the boys.  She was home on Fri. with us and boy does that make it all the more difficult.  She started Korean school on Sat. morning.  She said she liked it and wants to go back.Image00001

My 1st grader!

Image00014 It wasn’t until I saw this picture that I realized I sent Erik to school with chocolate on his face. : )

Image00015Ryan likes all of his teachers.  He has four this year.  Two teachers each teach two subjects.  He isn’t super excited about Latin, but he seems to be happy with everything else.  We are already behind…I am going to have to work on the Megan/Friday thing.

Back to Preschool

This is how Megan felt about going to school today:

Image00001(That’s a smile just in case you’re not quite sure!)  Her teacher said she did great.  I think it will be good for her.  It sure made school with the boys easy.

The boys start tomorrow.  We leave at 7am…hope they are ready to get up early again!

First Tournament

Hot day at the ballpark!  The boys had quite a game this morning.  In the first inning they went up 9-1.  By the second inning it was tied!  They ended up winning 12-9.  Ryan caught three innings the first game.  He threw a runner out at second, which was his favorite play of the tournament.  He also tagged out a runner at home plate.  He had a terrific catch at first base, jumping up to catch a bad throw, then spinning around and diving to beat the runner.  That was everyone else’s favorite play.  The second game was a tight game.  They ended up losing in the last inning, but it was a great team and after the brutal first game, everyone was pleased with how their first tournament went.  Ryan is batting 455 after the weekend.

This is a big week.  Megan starts her new preschool on Wed. and Ryan and Erik head back to school on Thurs.  Megan is also starting Korean school on Saturday mornings and Awana this week.
