Back in the Squat Again
Ryan had a great weekend. No wins, but he just loves to play ball. I didn’t go to his first Red Sox game. Apparently, three boys had to be told to get out of the tree and back into the dugout…?
Oh the joy…to be back in the squat!!
The bigger they get, the bigger the darn fences get. I guess I’m going to have to get a longer lens! :) Not for a while though! New camera came today.

Game 2
If you aren’t interested in baseball pictures, you might want to come back tomorrow.
I mean Tuesday.
Actually…July.
The many positions of Erik:
First base:
Harvey worked with Erik on how to play first base. He was more than ready when the coach put him there. It involved a LOT of waiting. He was ready for the throw though. At one point he couldn’t bear it any longer and ran to the ball and then back to first base with it.
Did I mention there was a lot of waiting…
It was a long weekend. I took Erik to his game at 9:30 and Harvey took Ryan to his first game at 9:00. We met back at home for a couple of hours and then Ryan left for his first tournament. The littles and I went to watch the first game. It was a little brutal. Ryan is the only one who has played travel ball at this level. The coach is new to it all too. They started learning signs on FRIDAY…Ryan was so happy despite the score. We love that he is playing with kids his age and really contributing. Our little lefty is playing CATCHER and FIRST BASE! : )
Tomorrow will be Ryan’s pictures.

Creating
Yesterday Ryan was itching to create. He started looking for boxes. It didn’t take long for him to find what he wanted. It took a little while for the big idea to come to him…but it came.
Today they painted:
It’s not what you think…
just wait!

It’s Spring!
Ryan got home from school and went outside to play right away. Such a nice afternoon.
Our little fig tree is just a shell of its former self. Erik broke off a branch recently, adding to its misery. So many memories…and photos in this tree. There isn’t much left to hang from or climb on. One of these days…
Erik went to practice again last night with Ryan. I gave him medicine before he left, but he came back all red-eyed and miserable (just a little less so.) He woke up looking better but still red and not feeling that great. He went to school and made it through, but he came home and napped.
First REAL brownie ever!
I think it’s safe to say that he is going to adjust to non-allergy desserts just fine. No reactions so far. Ice cream is in his future!

Game Day
Saturday was Erik’s first game. On Friday night he went out to Ryan’s practice to play catch with Harvey. He came home an allergic mess. He could barely open his red and swollen eyes. He has had hives after playing in the grass before. We have never nailed down what is going on. It isn’t a consistent thing. I was worried he was going to miss the big game. I gave him some medicine to ease the symptoms and let him fall asleep on me on the couch. In the morning he was almost better. I ran out and got something else for him to take before the game. He looked pretty rough, but felt better and played like a pro.
I now have a kid who can go buy stuff at the snack shack all by himself…how did he get so old?
Erik was so happy to carry on with the number 1. He isn’t the shortest though, the coaches just picked it for him. He loves that it’s Ryan’s first number too.
He’s ready to hit the ball…BANG!
(my editor just came in to write captions for me)
Look who got asked to be the third base coach…HAPPY!
Ready to field the ball.
Thanks to the fans for all of their support!
I can’t believe it, but my camera died. Not the battery…but a total death in the middle of Erik’s first game. I did manage to get about 200 pictures in before the shutter stopped shuttering, but what a bummer!
