Catching up

It was a nice labor day, not laboring and all.  I did continue sampling and going in and out of the master bath all day to see which color got me.  We do have a winner.  I raced to the store before it closed to get a gallon of paint.  I kid you not, the guy already at the counter had boxes to hold his samples.  24!  When it was finally my turn I proudly announced my decision.  Unfortunately, they don’t carry the satin finish my painter prefers in their store.  Umm, sort of a let down.  On Saturday I bought a gallon of paint for the ceiling.  Did you know it can cost $50 for a gallon of paint?  Not Ralph Lauren paint.  Just the paint store’s brand.  Yikes.  The days of “painting is the cheapest way to change a room” days are way over.

This morning I got a light fixture!  I bought it almost six years ago.  I still like it.  Whew!

This is what I currently have in the master bedroom:

Clearly, I am happy to see an attractive fixture near my master bedroom.

2013-09-01_009 So this is the third Sunday she has come home covered in paint or marker.  Her arms were blue. The shirt was soaking wet in the middle.  According to her teacher,  “She was the only one who got dirty.  She laid on the table across the paint.”  Guess who gets a smock on Sunday!

Everything is better in a cape!

Every August the local teacher store has a swap meet.  I have gotten a few great deals.  I found a container of wood pattern blocks, two big packages of pattern block stickers, and these idea cards for $8.00.  The kids loved them.

Tomorrow we start week two.  I have a high schooler who hasn’t started back yet coming to take Megan to the park for two hours.  Megan will love it and we’ll get a lot done.

This should be an exciting week full of crown molding, paint, mirrors, light fixtures and maybe a medicine cabinet!  The upper half of the bathroom should look great!
