15 Tons and a Bottle of Advil (and maybe that bottle of rum)

It came, it’s in, and we’re pooped!  I’ve spent the day back and forth with excitement and ‘what on earth was I thinking’ moments.  Who in their right mind puts this much sand in their yard?  (Obviously no one.)  So we’ll see which side I land on after the 18 children leave tomorrow night!  Looks like I’ve delayed replacing our floors for the next ten years! : )

(a hose right next to a sandbox, no, two sandboxes…hmmm)

Harv put in his box so we can plug in the projector behind the kids instead of running cords all over the play area…he’s always thinking!

2010-07-09_019 At first it didn’t seem that large.  We both went through moments today thinking we might not have enough but it was like the widow’s pot…it kept coming.  Need sand?

Of course Harvey has decided to put lawn right up to the sand and rock area…that bathtub is never going to see a bare bottom!

Got Sand?

I didn’t get to the other computer before Harv went to bed so I’ll have to catch up on photos tomorrow.  Speaking of tomorrow…it’s SAND day!  Whoops!  Did I say 3 tons of sand?  I meant 15 TONS of sand.  I can’t wait to see what that much sand looks like in our driveway.  I’m a chief shoveler so I better rest my wrists!  Hopefully the whole thing will come together tomorrow!

Jumping in July!

The water company came to check the water pressure…couldn’t let all that water go to waste!

Borders

2010-07-04_002 Ryan climbed up in the fort for a little reading time.  He found this book on my shelf and has been taking it everywhere…including the car and here.  He has decided he wants to read so he spends a good deal of time looking for words he knows and the rest of the time asking me what ‘G O D’ spells and what ‘P R E D E S T I N A T I O N’ means (just kidding).  It’s cute and I’m glad I have waited for him to initiate interest.  He has always loved books and I am so excited for him getting on his way with reading.

Harv got all of the borders in.  It is going to look great!  It would have been a half day project but low and behold there were two big chunks of concrete hiding that took several hours to remove before he could put the boards in.  And guess what…the previous owners used to have a cat or maybe small dog?!

Fancy!

We may have to charge admission to this place! : )

Look how close it’s getting!  Now back to the digging.  Hopefully that will get done tomorrow and then Harv will put the border and cloth down….then the sand!!  My arms are going to be so buff! : )

It is starting to look like a playset.  Tomorrow Harv hopes to have the swing side set in cement and to get the roof on.  We still have some more digging :(  The next hard part is getting the border in before the sand comes.  I’m sure we’ll have to get another dump truck.  Imagine Erik’s delight!
