A journal for friends and family to follow our life with our boys, Ryan and Erik, and our little girl Megan.
We finally had a small family party for Megan’s birthday. She loves to be around a group of people…especially these ones.
On Tuesday we went to the zoo. Ryan has had this week off. Megan walked almost the whole time. If you have ever walked the hills of the Oakland Zoo, you know that’s quite an effort! Erik couldn’t have been happier with the open stroller seat. I’m pretty sure the tanbark at the edge of the exhibits was the highlight for Megan. For the boys, it was the train.
Note to self: take group photos at the beginning of the day, not after walking around a zoo on a hot day for four hours.
Today is our 9th anniversary! I took Megan for her two year old check-up, so Harvey took the boys to the dollar store as a treat. The years of jewelry are over…my anniversary card and gift totaled $2. Harvey did assure me that he did pick the very best card in the store. Since I paid $2.89 for his card, I’m considering it a card/gift combo. Depending on how many of the snack Snicker bars I end up getting…it all seems fair enough. Proof that we are meant to be together!
Megan is 29 lbs. and 15 oz. Let’s just round to 30 folks. She is in the 85th percentile for weight. She is one pound less than Erik. She is in the 75th percentile for height. The doctor was pleased with how she is doing. She also has a preemie. We switched doctors and I am so happy. I have now cut my commute down from 35 min. to 2 min. Yeah!
To sum up today:
In the Safeway parking lot, from several cars away, an older woman yells to ME:
“Don’t worry honey, it gets better. Hang in there.”
From the school office:
“Ryan had an accident at school and hurt his finger pretty bad. Please come in and sign an accident report.” (Good news: he scored a touchdown.)
Dinner: “Should I get the fire extinguisher?”
“Yes.”
Megan turned two today!
We just had a nice dinner out with us. Last year we celebrated her birthday at a restaurant without her. This was WAY better! We just had a few presents. Turns out Birthday Bear and the bag of goldfish from Erik were all she needed!
Erik is finally starting to see that Megan might just be a fun little playmate…at least some of the time.
I think the jeans make her look so much older.
Our Korean adoption group got together on Sat. for the Korean harvest celebration. We had a great group with several families I had never met before. Erik and Ryan did this for the entire four hours we were there:
Foster mom picked such a pretty hanbok for Megan. She couldn’t wait to put it on. I’m hoping she’ll let me get her photos taken with it on. Erik would not even consider stopping on the trampoline to change into his old one.
What’s everyone smiling about?
