Work, work, work!

Yesterday Ryan went hiking with some friends.  I told their mom we were all finally feeling well again.  By the time Ryan got home his eyes were glassy and he had a fever.  Today he still has a fever (can’t you tell by the photo below?) and took a 2 1/2 hour nap.  Boy do I miss naps.  This morning Ryan got up and said, “Let’s work in the yard.”  Good with me!  So Harv and I worked and the boys played.  I am so happy that Erik loves being outside so much.   By lunch Ryan started melting.  I know when he willingly takes a nap that he is not well.  Hoping he kicks the fever tonight.  We had to send Daddy and Erik to our cousins for the big Chinese New Year dinner without us.

Love is in the Air

Sorry about the video.  It worked last night…must be the rush of downloads to watch one of Harvey’s masterpieces!  He’ll reload it tomorrow.

Here’s one of the cute Valentines that Ryan made this year.  We used the shaving cream art to make them.

Tomorrow is the Valentine’s Day party at school.  Since Ryan can’t eat the cookies the teacher bought we made some for him to take.  I found a great allergy free gingerbread cookie recipe.

2010-02-10_013      Thanks FGRMA for the cute cookie cutter! ( I think I forgot to say that!).

2010-02-10_015  Some of the kids brought little goody bags for the class at Christmas.  Who knew preschool was so complicated?!  Hey, I’m a rookie!  Ryan really wanted to bring something for his friends, so I told him we would do it for Valentine’s Day.  Target had some cute pads of paper and pencils…I think the 10 goody bags cost me less than $5.

Just imagine the joy when we found these!!  And the joy only grew when he realized he got to keep the extra 22!

Got Puddle?

Today Ryan got to teach his little brother the art of puddle jumping. He’s a great teacher with a pretty cute student! Erik caught on right away and loved it.

It was a little muddier than I expected! I finally learned that we needed two sets of boots: one for puddle jumping and the other for school/church…I got sick of getting out the hair dryer to get them dry enough for the next outing. I’m afraid I have now set myself up. I think the days of Erik walking by a puddle are over!

A Little Order in the House

We keep trying to hang more and more things on these two little hooks, meant to hold two sets of keys!  Today we finally gave them a break… 2010-02-06_018

2010-02-06_005  It’s my never ending quest to bring some order around here.  This house has wonderfully spacious bedrooms, but  storage space is a problem (or maybe the amount needing storage, but that is a topic for another day).

2010-02-06_010 So I didn’t know that you could actually put a cob of corn in the microwave and pop yourself (or your 4 year old) some popcorn!  Some friends took Ryan to a local farm and the kids came home with a dried cob.  It popped in 3 min.

Got Worms!

(Not to worry!  It’s the cute, pink, in the dirt kind!  )

2010-02-03_011 We finally had some sun this morning so we got lots of outside play time today.  I decided to start on the ocean of weeds, of which I managed a cup or so!  One of the joys of weeding after lots of rain is how easily they come out.  The other, and more exciting, is the plethora of worms!  Erik got to hold (and drop) his first worm.  He loved them all and didn’t even eat one!

I have a feeling that we are going to be a two-helmet family!

All that worming took its toll!

Really, this was so my kind of day!  I love being outside and love watching the kids get dirty.  I’ll take weeding over vacuuming any day!  I could never count the amount of hours Ryan has spent digging.  Our neighbor boys, now in Jr. and High school, brought these trucks over for Ryan when we moved in.  They picked the right boy!

2010-02-03_041 Good thing I like to weed!!

Just When I Thought...

I was surprised to walk into the living room and see Harvey still home...YEP! Pink eye! So now he is on drops. He doesn't run away and cry though!
