Mammo-slammo-gram!

So I took a couple nights off blogging because Harvey went to bed early and then went to blog last night and our DSL was down! Sorry Grandmas! : )

Nothing makes you feel 'middle age' quite like your first mammogram. I had been putting it off but my friend and doctor said it was time! I made my friend take me and then made her take my picture in case things didn't bounce back like they're supposed to! Apparently this hospital has the new machines and I was totally shocked at how 'not a big deal' it was. I was in and out in a jiffy! (And everyone is back where they are supposed to be!).

Okay, this was totally on his own initiative!
He is such a great helper.

First time in the boots. You can't walk in the front yard without shoes, or boots of course, because of all of the acorns and oak leaves.
This boy loves acorns!

We spent a long time vacuuming today. Guess what the weatherman just told us for tomorrow: "Windy"!

Got Cocoa!

8 Weeks!
Can you believe it has been eight weeks since we brought Erik home?! We are feeling very settled in and the adjustment has gone so well. To celebrate, Erik played a little entertaining music on the rice steamer. I should have known that getting into the pots and pans this early in the day was going to lead to real trouble.

Next stop: Tupperware!
This is Erik's cabinet. He can go for it here.

Ryan came home from school and headed straight for the Legos, which he hasn't done for maybe a year. After he played for a long time I decided to get out the 'big boy' Legos. He got a policeman and a helicopter for his birthday but wasn't super interested until today. I think we may have a lot of Lego time ahead.

It was time for a little help from daddy.
This is so up Harv's alley!

So back to Mr. Nosey! Apparently (ha,ha) while I was cooking, he found the box of cocoa (not in the Tupperware cabinet).

Not a good day for carpet in the kitchen!
( I know...it's never a good day for carpet in the kitchen, but don't get me started on the granite floors again!).
Deep Thoughts of Ryan:
So Ryan tells me, "Did you know God made cows?" "Yes," I said. Then he asks, "Did God make himself?" "No, God has always been," I said. "Well, how did it all start?" Hmmmm...
It seems that our family version of 'sleeping through the night' has finally come about. That would be Harvey getting up at 2:30 am to go to work and me getting up once with Erik, for a few minutes, and taking Ryan to the bathroom. Now on my own, which I do occasionally dream of, I would sleep from about 10-9am without stirring. But they are all worth a little lost sleep!

Got Pumpkins!

We had a fun day at the pumpkin patch! We took over 400 pictures so I'll try and pare it down!

My boys!
(Erik's there! Look closer...under Ryan!)

I needed to rest my hot, sweaty feet (it was about 80 degrees outside and about 110 degrees in my Ugg boots) and the only seat around was this one...coincidence?

Got Puddles!

While Ryan was at school, Erik had his first puddle time. He didn't quite get the stomping concept, but he loved playing in them.

So the tent finally came down! Ryan had told me that he would sleep in his bed on Christmas (I think he was worried about Santa). But...the cars finally demanded more space. He said he wants to put the tent back up in five days so we'll see what happens!

Bedtime: 4:30 pm

It was a nice, slow inside kind of day. Ryan spent at least two hours at the table tracing, cutting, and taping. He ended up with a nice book of treasures. It's been a while since he's done that so it was nice to watch him work.

Meanwhile, this guy was crawling under the table, climbing on chairs (to get on the table), and keeping quite busy himself. Oh to be twenty again!!

I tried to explain to him this morning at 6:00 that it was way to early to be starting the day. We didn't quite get through the broccoli.

It was a chili and cornbread kind of night. This was a pretty good basic chili. Super easy to make. I haven't ever watched the Neely's on Food Network but it's their recipe.

So Ryan wanted to know why he has such good days but at night time he gets himself into trouble. I told him that was an excellent question and one we had better put some thinking into. We haven't come to a firm conclusion of what happens just before dinner that brings out the wild side, but going to bed at 4:30 might just be the answer!

What a Sale!

What a great day! We didn't have any electronics or furniture, just put it on Craislist, put up four signs and we made $350! So now it's time to do some Christmas box shopping!

Who could resist 25 cent lemonade from this guy? Even the people who didn't want lemonade gave him money. He kept telling people, "It's 25 cents or 1 penny". We need to work on the math a little. One guy gave him a dollar even though we were out of lemonade. He totally worked the crowd and loved every minute of it.
